In old days the road beyond Balakot was fit for four wheal drive vehicles only. Most of the visitors used to leave their cars here and rent jeeps for the onward journey. Now a days the road is good all the way up to Naran and it is now possible to travel even on personal cars . In early tourist season couple of glaciers across the road between Kaghan and Naran which are difficult to cross with cars. But from mid June onward the road to Naran is open for normal cars, vans and coaches. If you are self driving, always start early morning to safely reach at your destination well before dark. If you are planning to use public transport in that case you travel by air conditioned regular bus services of various companies directly from Lahore and Rawalpindi. PTDC operates daily air conditioned bus service to Naran from Flashman’s Hotel Rawalpindi at 9.00 am. Booking can be made by calling at 051-9272017, 9272004.
Beside this Daewoo Bus Service operates very comfortable and reliable air conditioned bus services on all major routes in Punjab and NWFP. They have frequent bus service to Abbottabad and from where they run van shuttle service to Mansehra which is the main station from where you can embark on the journey to Kaghan Valley.
Beside this number of other coach services operates between Rawalpindi and Mansehra from Pir Wadhai bus Stand in Rawalpindi. From Mansehra one can find a direct Hiace van service for Kaghan and Naran. In other case take any public transport to Balakot from where frequent transport is available for Kaghan and Naran. One can also hire a jeep from Balakot to go to any where in Kaghan Valley on reasonable rates. There are plenty of private jeeps for hire at Balakot, Kewai, Shogran, Kaghan, and Naran to go on various day trips.
