The town of Naran located at the elevation of 7,888 feet above sea level is the main of hub of tourism in Kaghan Valley. It is located at a distance of 82 km from Balakot. The town is situated on the bank of Kunhar River at a point where the valley widens. The river is also quite smooth here and ideal for trout fishing and easy grade river rafting. With more than 400 hotels of all different categories, Naran without any doubt is the main base station for most of the tourists visiting Kaghan Valley. There is one long bazaar where all the shops, restaurants and most of the hotels are situated. Naran becomes alive only in summer season when snow melts and road to Naran become passable in mid May. In winter majority of the population descends to the warmer climates of Balakot and Mansehra. Most visitors stay here for few days and go to various day excursions to Lake Saiful Muluk, Lalazar, Lake Lulusar and Babusar Pass. There are also several short walks and treks around Naran.
