Kaghan is the town which gives the name to the valley. It is a permanent settlement and is located at a distance of 61 km from Balakot. Kaghan has a hospital, post office, police station and a small bazaar
Saiful Muluk is the top tourist attraction of Kaghan Valley, most visitors to Naran pay a visit to this legendary lake. Along the side valley to the east of Naran, a 10 km jeep track leads through a picturesque valley.
Back on the main road to Naran, 6 km further north of Kawai is the small town of Paras. The main bazaar consisting of some shops and road side restaurants is worth stopping to have a cup of tea or hot lunch.
The best part of Shogran’s visit is an excursion to Sari and Paya. An eight kilometer jeepable road goes through the thick pine forest climbing an other 2300 feet to the top of the ridge of Paya which is a lush green meadow
Shogran is one of the most beautiful plateaus in the whole area and it is situated at a distance of 34 km from Balakot via Kawai. To reach Shogran you need to take a side road on the right from the village of Kawai which is at 27 km from Balakot.
